Siemens is one of the largest manufacturers company to produce medical devices in the world. We carry out Siemens ultrasound product strategy and product design. It was a project to define a design identity that could cover all of Siemens’s ultra sound products. The most important aspect of this product was Siemens legacy design. And it was to protect the design we made. This design led to actual mass production. Due to many people were used. And there were many aspects of the user’s physical characteristics. we often need to change in our design from engineer. Also, the size of the internal hardware should be taken into account.
By making 1:1 prototype usability inspection was performed. We reviewed product movement and internal hardware through 3d simulation. And we got final design review.
When we observed sonographer, they moved a lot of the monitor more than we thought. During treatment, he showed me to a patient lying to suit yourself. We have found a method capable of moving the monitor more easily. And it was to the handle can be easily moved to create monitor in the lower part of the monitor. In addition, the monitor back to make a space that can save the file. Sonographer can store documents frequently used.
One of our key issue was the difference between the sonographers height. The average height of sonographer is quite different from the East Asian countries to the Netherlands, from 150cm to 190cm. We were required to consider the range of more than 40cm. So we designed control panel and monitor to be moved vertically and horizontally.
